BRAND STORY
Lego
LEGO was founded in 1932 by Danish carpenter Ole Kirk Christiansen in Billund, Denmark. Initially, the company produced wooden toys, but after a factory fire in 1949, the focus shifted to plastic. In 1958, the modern LEGO brick design was patented, featuring the iconic interlocking stud-and-tube system that allows for greater stability and creativity in building.
LEGO expanded its product range and began creating themed sets, leading to the introduction of LEGO themes such as LEGO City and LEGO Space. The brand became synonymous with imaginative play, capturing the hearts of children worldwide. In the 1980s and 90s, LEGO transitioned into a cultural icon, bolstered by partnerships with popular franchises like Star Wars and Harry Potter. The introduction of LEGO video games and movies further solidified its status in popular culture, appealing to both children and adult fans (AFOLs).
Today, LEGO is more than just a toy; it’s a platform for creativity and innovation. With millions of sets sold globally, the brand continues to inspire builders of all ages, fostering a sense of community through events, fan conventions, and online platforms.
