MAP Announces 15.5% Jump in Operating Profit For First Quarter 2019
Jakarta, 30th April 2019 – PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk, the leading lifestyle retailer in Indonesia today announced its financial result for first quarter 2019. Net revenue increased 8.4% to Rp 4.7 trillion – up from the Rp 4.3 trillion posted during the corresponding period in 2018. Operating profit rose 15.5% to Rp 287 billion and net profit was Rp 167 billion.
Commenting on the results, Fetty Kwartati, Head of Corporate Communication of MAP said, “Despite softening sales growth in first quarter of 2019 across retail industry, MAPI continues to improve its bottom-line due to the resilience of our diversified portfolio across various business segment – Department Stores, Specialty Stores, Food & Beverage and Others.”
Our subsidiary in sports, kids and leisure, PT Map Aktif Adiperkasa Tbk (MAPA) reported strong results in 1Q 2019. MAPA first quarter net revenue rose almost 15% to Rp. 1.5 trillion. Gross profit margin expanded to 46.4% as a result of improved merchandise planning, enhanced purchase and marketing execution across its proprietary Multi-Tier retail platform, as well as strong digital sales.
Our subsidiary in F&B business, PT Map Boga Adiperkasa Tbk (MAPB) also reported strong total sales growth of 17% with various brands in F&B and Starbucks as main contributor. We expect our business to continue its momentum as we execute our prudent strategic expansion plan for the year, including penetration of new cities.
As at end of March 2019, we have added 67 new stores, and our total retail footage currently stands at 798,068 sqm. The Ramadhan season is where the Company truly shine. We look forward to the forthcoming Ramadhan and “Mid Year Break” seasons which will be strong events to achieve the Company’s target as planned.
