Jakarta, December 2024 – PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAP), Indonesia’s leading lifestyle retailer, realizes the importance of integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into its operations. MAP sees that its presence is not only answering the needs in shopping, therefore Through implementing ESG, the Company can provide contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The SDGs have 17 goals which cannot be seen as separated to one another. The goals are interconnected and are equally important. For example, providing decent jobs (goal 8) may help a person to provide food to their families (goal 1), obtaining good healthcare (goal 3), and provide quality education for their families (goal 4). This realization leads MAP to participate in the Tri Hita Karana Universal Reflection Journey that was held in Bali from December 14-15, 2024. This is the momentum for people or companies to reflect on how we can leverage our existence to provide contributions for a better Indonesia and a better world. Every stakeholder should contribute to the achievement of SDGs.
Sustainability is a journey. PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk endeavour in implementing ESG has been recognized with several awards, including “The Best Place to Work in Asia” by HR Asia and the increase of MSCI ESG rating from BBB to A. MAP initiative to support the Sustainable Development goals have been disclosed in our sustainability reports. In short, our ESG Strategy is a as follows:

- Good quality human capital is needed to support The Company’s sustainable growth, thus the company establish MAP Retail Academy, as a centre for retail training in Indonesia, with a curriculum based on international standards such as the Australian Retailers Association.
- Our community development program revolves in providing education, active and healthy lifestyle, or other program to improve community wellbeing.
- To provide contribution in environmental preservation, we continue to focus on our own scope of influence, such as single use plastic reduction initiatives, circular economy implementation, increasing access to clean water, and mangrove planting.
